It's one thing to write tests, it's another thing to write tests that are efficient and meaningful. Deciding when and how to test code is a difficult part of being a software engineer. One of the most often fielded questions I get from my team is "How do we know if it's a unit test or an e2e test". This session is meant to cover the range of different types of testing and how to strategize which types of testing might be appropriate for you application.

Prerequisites

A general idea of how to write some code. No specific tech stack and no experience with testing is required.

Take Aways

  • How to test code
  • What are we trying to test
  • What are the boundaries of different kinds of tests
  • What are the different kinds of tests
